About Hope is Rising & The Philia Foundation
Hope is Rising is a Christian movement that lifts Jesus above all else, believing that it’s through His name that true transformation, restoration, and peace come to individuals and nations. Our mission is to help communities rise, empowered by the hope that only Jesus can bring. As a national initiative, Hope is Rising works to transform nations, helping them grow to their next level through faith and action. We are partnered with The Philia Foundation, a nonprofit that has already impacted tens of thousands of lives around the world, bringing hope and practical solutions to those in need. Both organizations are founded by Pastor Joe Persaud.

While Hope is Rising focuses on transforming entire nations, The Philia Foundation brings direct support to individuals, tackling some of the world’s most pressing issues, like poverty and disease. Together, we’re a powerful team working toward lasting change.

What Does The Philia Foundation Do?
Microfinance:
At the heart of The Philia Foundation is a commitment to empowering people through microfinance. Instead of offering charity, we provide small loans that help people start their own businesses. This isn’t about handouts, it’s about giving individuals the tools they need to support themselves and their families. The loans are repaid, which encourages responsibility and long term sustainability. This approach has been supported by notable figures such as Bill Gates, Pierre Omidyar, and Ted Turner, who see the power of microfinance in creating lasting change.
Our Approach:
Rather than giving a person a fish, we teach them how to fish. By providing small loans, we help people create businesses that provide jobs, generate income, and strengthen local economies. This not only helps families break free from poverty, but it also helps entire communities thrive.

Partnerships with Churches:
The Philia Foundation works alongside churches and faith based organizations to tackle poverty in practical ways. These partnerships have helped countless people rebuild their lives and find hope. We believe that the
church is a powerful force for good, and together, we’re helping people experience real transformation.
Health Initiatives:
One of the biggest threats to health in many of the poorest regions of the world is malaria. Every 30 seconds, a child dies from this preventable disease. The Philia Foundation is addressing this by distributing insecticide treated bed nets, which have proven to be an effective way to prevent malaria. Each bed net costs less than $10 and lasts up to three years, simple yet life saving. Our goal is to raise the necessary funds to distribute these bed nets to those who need them most, working alongside local authorities and faith based organizations to make a real impact.

The Synergy Between Hope is Rising & The Philia Foundation
At the heart of it all, Hope is Rising and The Philia Foundation are two organizations that serve each other, united by a shared vision: to help people and nations experience lasting transformation through the hope of Jesus. Hope is Rising is a Christian movement that’s all about bringing nations to a place of restoration and peace, always lifting Jesus above everything else. On the other hand, The Philia Foundation takes a more hands on approach, addressing immediate needs like poverty and disease, with a focus on long-term, sustainable change.
The Philia Foundation has worked on water projects in communities across India and Africa, bringing clean water to several villages in need. We’ve also helped bring light to families and schools in Haiti by providing solar-powered solutions, improving their access to energy.
Over the years, we’ve supported communities in India, Haiti, Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda with microfinance and various forms of aid, helping families and individuals build better futures. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to provide food for over 10,000 people, offering some relief during a difficult time.

Since 2007, The Philia Foundation has been a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States, dedicated to making a positive impact around the world.
Together, we are making a difference by meeting both the spiritual and practical needs of people, helping communities rise and thrive in the name of Jesus.
